Empire Acoustical System (EAS) has been engineering, manufacturing, and installing airport blast barriers since 1989, our history beginning with the project for Grissom Air force Base in Indiana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u200bEAS initiated their first blast deflector design in 1989 at Grissom Air Force Base, Indiana, with an extensive test program utilizing a KC135 Stratotanker and 130 feet of blast deflector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With four CFM-56 engines operating up to take-off rated thrust, the jet blast velocity, pressure, and temperature distributions on the blast deflector were measured. In addition, flow visualization via a smoke test was carried out. The measured strain in the truss structure demonstrated that the blast deflector exceeded the required structural capability.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Design<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Design and build based on site specific engineering parameters such as aircraft thrust, engine height, wind speed, elevations, soil conditions, and unique client needs. Designed to conform to all FAA and airport standards. Creates more usable space, minimizes the possibility of damage from jet blast hazards, and addresses airport noise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EAS has developed a series of products that specifically address airport hazard issues and noise problems. EAS offers two types of airport blast deflectors: Blast Deflectors for sole deviation and Absorptive Blast Deflectors for dual deviation and acoustical attenuation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Available in heights from 8 to 20 feet.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

EAS Blast deflectors may be mounted in new or existing concrete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Installation in New Concrete:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anchor bolts will be \u201cL\u201d type for setting in newly placed concrete, with a fixed squire nut run tight on threads to locate the grade line. The assembly must be galvanized. Anchor bolts will be galvanized and tightened to manufacturer\u2019s prescribed torque, against an external spline lock washer at final assembly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tolerances between anchor bolts centers must be non-cumulative and must be accurately held in order to prevent assembly difficulties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Installation in Existing Concrete:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

An epoxy grout type fastener such as HILTI type HAS adhesive anchors, conforming to recommendations of the blast barrier manufacturer must be used.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
